1. What Cookies Are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to save on your device. When you return, the browser sends it back, which lets the site recognise the same visitor between page loads. Cookies cannot execute programs, read unrelated files, or carry viruses — they hold short pieces of text.

Related technologies behave much like cookies even though they are stored differently: localStorage sessionStorage HTTP cookies. This policy covers all of them, because the practical question — what does this site keep on your device, and why — is the same regardless of the mechanism.

2. How We Use Cookies

NovaShield Cyber runs this website as an informational presence for our security services. It is not a customer portal and does not run an advertising network. The storage we use exists for one purpose: to remember that you have answered the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every page you open.

When you press Accept or Decline in the banner at the bottom of the page, our script writes your answer into your browser's local storage under the key novashield-cookie-consent. The stored value is the single word accept or decline — no identifier, no timestamp, no profile. It stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly necessary

These are the entries the site needs in order to behave correctly for you. Here the category contains exactly one item: the consent record described above. Without it, the banner would have no way of knowing you had already dismissed it. Because this entry only stores your own decision, it does not rely on your consent.

Preferences

Preference storage remembers choices so the site can present itself the way you left it — a language selection, a collapsed panel, a chosen theme. This site offers no such settings and therefore stores no preference data. If we add features of this kind later, we will describe them here before they go live.

Analytics

This website does not use analytics cookies. There is no Google Analytics tag, no product analytics SDK, and no comparable measurement script in these pages. We do not count your visit, record your session, or measure which sections you scroll through. Our web host produces standard server logs as a by-product of serving the site, but that happens on the server and involves no cookie on your device; those logs are covered in our Privacy Policy.

We state the absence explicitly because it is unusual — most corporate sites do measure their traffic. If we introduce analytics later, this section will be rewritten first, and the banner reworked so that a Decline actually prevents the measurement code from loading.

4. Your Consent Choices

The banner appears shortly after your first page load and stays until you answer it. Your answer then persists in local storage, and the banner will not return on later visits from the same browser and device.

There is no in-page control for changing your mind afterwards — we have not built a reset button. To see the banner again, or to withdraw the record of your choice, clear this site's storage through your browser (the next section explains how). Removing the stored value returns the site to its initial state, and the notice will be presented again on your next visit.

Because the value lives only in your browser, your choice does not follow you to another device, another browser, or a private window — each starts fresh and will show the banner again.

5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

Every mainstream browser lets you inspect what a site has stored, delete it, and set rules for the future. The exact wording moves between versions, so we describe the destination rather than a click path that may be out of date. Open your browser's settings and look for the privacy or site-data section:

• Google Chrome — privacy and security settings include cookie controls and a per-site view where you can inspect and delete the data one site has stored.
• Safari — the privacy preferences let you block cross-site tracking and manage stored website data, with an option to remove entries for individual sites.
• Mozilla Firefox — the privacy and security panel offers tracking protection levels plus cookie and site-data management, including clearing one site at a time.
• Microsoft Edge — the cookies and site permissions settings cover both blocking rules and removal of stored data for specific sites.

Browsers also expose the same information through their developer tools, under a storage or application panel, if you want to look at the novashield-cookie-consent value directly. Blocking storage for this site entirely is harmless: nothing here depends on it except the banner, which will simply keep appearing.

6. Third-Party Cookies

Two external resources are involved in delivering this website. The first is the Inter typeface, served from Google Fonts. Requesting the font sends your IP address and basic browser information to Google's servers as part of the ordinary HTTP request, and Google may process that under its own policies. The font service does not set cookies for us, and we receive no data back from it.

The second is the Google Maps frame in the contact section of our home page, which shows the location of our Boston office. That frame is loaded only when you scroll down to it. When it loads, Google may set its own cookies on your device and process the request under its policies, which we do not control. If you would rather not load it, do not scroll to the map, or block Google's domains at the browser or network level — the rest of the page works without it.

Beyond those two, nothing on these pages comes from another company: no advertising pixels, social media widgets, chat plugins, tag managers, or embedded trackers of any kind. If we ever add a third-party component that stores data on your device, we will list it here and adjust the consent banner accordingly.

7. Updates to This Policy

We will revise this policy when the site changes — for example, if we add analytics, embed a third-party tool, or build features that need to remember your preferences. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and material changes will be accompanied by a renewed consent request rather than a quiet edit.

This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers the personal data you send us deliberately, such as the details in an assessment request form.
